GPB

Recently Emma Harrington, Injury Prevention Specialist, at Shepherd Center told me about a fantastic opportunity with Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB). They are airing a special on Distracted Driving and want to have me in for an interview.
Now I don’t have any recollection of the accident or several months before. However, there are some signs that makes me think I was distracted driving. I had recently gotten a job with the school newspaper and had taken some interviews on a small recorder. I was rushing back to campus to write the article before it was due. Maybe I was planning what I wanted to write by listening to the recorder back on the car ride.
The reason, I think I was listening to it back is because somehow the record button was pressed and the whole accident was recorded. The sound of the crash was not heard, but all the people’s voices who came to help me were heard.
I want to be as accurate with GPB as I can, but I really don’t know what happened. Although, I did keep the recorder and I still have the recording. I guess I can play it in the background.
I was told it may take several weeks to get it done, but I will let you all know about the finished product!

Car ramps

So if you can’t imagine I’m big into ramps. I use them almost any time I can. Ramps to replace  stairs, sidewalk ramps, ramps for your shower if you name it I probably have it.
Then it would probably come as a surprise to you that I was offered a car ramp, and I said no thanks. Now, I know I walk slowly, but I would think I would feel obligated to take the scooter with me completely destroys me. I would feel like I am copping out and whoever with me would say, Just take the scooter it will be quicker. Walking is very important to me.
It would save me a lot of time. I would not have to reserve half of the day running errands, maybe like an hour instead. I often worry about falling and that would not be the fear if I took the scooter
Now there are many individuals who may need/want a scooter with them all the time, but that is just not me. I don’t feel like I need a scooter to just go pick up medicine At CVS.

So in case you’re interested in getting a car ramp you can check out our database!!
1.       Go to the P2P website
2.       Scroll down to the bottom till you see Special Needs Database.
3.       Follow the directions to get you to your desired need.

Driving lessons

So I took the driving evaluation for the 4th time on June 27th. I was approved for lessons. Shepherd Center makes you take the test before you take the lessons but I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to pay for them. The cost is $150 per hour!
That is when I looked for my Vocational Councilors help. They are required to help you look for employment. Well I thought if I get a job how am I supposed to get there? They know I already have a job, but they also know that I just got approved for lessons to be able to drive. Well my guess is that’s a question that is commonly asked because they’re going to pay for it! So lessons start in October!
It would just be so AMAZING to be able to drive again. That way I would not have to wait hours on Marta or pay way more than just the cost of gas for Uber!
